St. Joan’s wort capsules are not safe and can cause over sensitivity to sunlight. The oil used externally (always) protects skin from sun and heals burn. Tincture also considered safe for easing muscle pain and a mild case of the blues…

all herbs in pills or capsules are at best ineffective and at worst damaging and pose risk to the users help. Herbs are best prepared as simples, one herb at a time, using the appropriate part of the plant harvested at the correct season, most effective medicinal herb preparations include infusions, tinctures, vinegars, oils, and salves.

Susun, I have a question regarding St. Joan’s Wort. I have a friend who’s been really down lately. I’ve heard that SJW can help elevate one’s mood. However, I’ve heard that it takes awhile for the mood improvement to take effect. Is that true? Green blessings!

all herbs in capsules and pills are dangerous to use…especially st. johns wort. It should only be used as a tincture of the flowering top. Never in capsules.
